NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture)

NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) for admission to B.Arch programs in various institutions across India. It assesses a candidate’s drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, and critical thinking ability.

 
Understanding NATA and JEE Main Paper-2

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the candidate for the field of Architecture, through assessment of cognitive skills, visual perception and aesthetic sensitivity tests, logical reasoning and critical thinking ability, besides the learning that the candidate has acquired over the past years.

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main Paper-2 is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to B.Arch programs in NITs, IITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions. JEE Main Paper 2 comprises of two papers. Paper-2A is conducted for admission to B.Arch and Paper-2B for B.Planning courses in the Country. 

NATA Exam Structure
  1. Part A: Drawing Test (Pen and paper-based)
    • Duration: 90 minutes
    • Content:
      • Drawing and sketching of geometrical compositions.
      • Architectural awareness.
      • Drawing and sketching of urban landscapes and buildings.
  2. Part B: Cognitive Skills Test (Online)
    • Duration: 90 minutes
    • Content:
      • Multiple-choice questions on General Aptitude, Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning.
      • Visual perception and observation skills.
      • Analytical reasoning.
      • Verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch)
JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Structure:
  1. Mathematics:
    • Duration: 60 minutes
    • Content: Questions on topics like Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, Statistics, and Probability.
  2. Aptitude Test:
    • Duration: 60 minutes
    • Content: Questions on spatial ability, architectural awareness, and visual perception.
    • Understanding and appreciation of three-dimensional forms.
    • Analytical reasoning and mental ability.
  3. Drawing Test:
    • Duration: 60 minutes
    • Content:
      • Sketching of scenes and activities from memory.
      • Three-dimensional perception and imagination.
      • Composition and visual harmony.
