Minimalism is a concept created to remove the unwanted tardiness and complexity in daily needs. Minimalistic approach can be applied to habits of living, fashion and even to places were side within or work around. The basic notion of this style is to retain what is needed and to make the most out of less.
It is a style which takes inspiration from nature, the sky lines, the horizon across the ocean front. It is a style that is opposite to the hustle and chaos of our daily lives. It is a style that is devoid of any ornations and a bold calling. In the field of design, where materials, color palette and technology places a great role, minimalistic theme gives any space a clean definition to its purpose. Simple construction techniques, longer life span, easy modification and clean materials define the style of minimalism.
This new era where working from home has become the new trend after the pandemic, need for a style that can adapt to living needs and working life is a necessity. Therefore, a palette that calls for dual needs has become a necessity. The minimalistic style attains to all the above factors due to which it has become a booming style for most designers.
On a personal note, a building or any space designed with minimalistic style paints a picture of Zen and serenity. It creates an atmosphere that relates to the Japanese Zen gardens and the spiritual sense of their temples and nature. The use of glass, elegant lighting and openness makes the space look light, free and breathing. Every element in the space has a clear function that it contributes to the space. It is a style that changes with every individual, can adapt to various situations and purposes.
The need for a Zen environment has become a significant need to people be cause of their fast paced work lifestyle. A need for a space that makes them free and liberated has shifted from a want to need. The style not only dictates the interior design but also gives an outlook to people to reduce on unwanted elements on a general note. To be content with the available and to seek happiness with what’s around. To be able to enjoy the Zen and serenity would be the key take away from the theme of Minimalism which suits all aspects of life, best reflected in the field of design.
